Children & Adolescents
There is nothing in our lives more important than the health and well-being of our children. As parents, we do everything we can to love and support them. Yet, despite our best efforts, they may suffer, withdraw, erupt, become addicted to drugs and alcohol, and, worst of all, become alienated from us. Whether a child is 5, 15, 18, or 35 years old, nothing is more painful to a parent than these experiences of helplessness and loss.
Merritt Mental Health seeks to help families whose children are facing emotional or behavioral problems in two ways. One is to guide you to the best treatments possible for your child. The other is to aid you, the parent, to navigate our society’s conflicting messages of the “rights” and “wrongs” of childrearing. With so many contradictory viewpoints in circulation, parents often lose confidence in how to show their love and how to intervene in an effective, relationship-building manner. We help you to regain your confidence and to find the parenting style that is right for you.
